They are With you Always

Some things in life leave indelible marks on our memory: the scent of my grandmother’s “Roses, Roses” perfume, the faded floral print of my mother’s kitchen smock, and the tattered denim jeans I wore every Friday of my senior year of high school.

Among my most treasured memories is the crimson flannel shirt my dad wore each winter over a crisp white waffle-knit shirt. He wore it for years. Now, that same shirt rests on a bookshelf, transformed into a teddy bear we call “Chuck.” It is a small piece of my dad, and a very large piece of my heart.
